Tomohiro Miura

Biography

Mr. Tomohiro Miura joined Japan’s Financial Services Agency (JFSA) in 1999 and has been responsible for the promotion of financial digitalization including FinTech, decentralized finance, and for the utilization of Japan’s individual number system in the financial sector as the head of JFSA’s FinTech Innovation Office since July 2021. Prior to his current post, Mr. Miura was seconded to the Cabinet Secretariat as the counselor for financial services, overseeing policies to make Japan’s financial market an international financial center as part of a government-wide effort. At JFSA, Mr. Miura has also worked to promote asset formation measures such as the review of NISA and to implement Basel III in Japan as the director of taxation or prudential standards team. Mr. Miura also has experience working for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (the U.S. banking regulator), the Bank of Japan, and the Consulate-General of Japan in New York, where he was engaged in specialized research on overseas financial regulations, financial markets, and investment trends of U.S. institutional investors.
